Man Calls 911 After Being Shortchanged in Crack Deal

Oh good grief.

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) –

Police arrested a 41-year-old man last week after he called 911 and told officers that he was not given the correct change after buying crack cocaine from a drug dealer.

The North Charleston Police Department arrested Dexter White for disorderly conduct.

It all started last Friday around 4:30 a.m., when White called authorities and told officers that he had given $60 to a drug dealer for crack and only got back $20 worth of drugs.

White said the drug dealer refused to give him $40 back.

According to a police report, White then walked away from the drug dealer, smoked the crack he purchased and then called 911.

White was locked up at the Charleston County Detention Center.

How does someone this dumb manage to get out of bed in the mornings?

Michael Moore: ‘Bin Laden Was Executed’

Why does anyone still care what Michael Moore thinks on any subject? Apparently he has a problem because Osama didn’t get a trial before the SEALs killed him. My favorite part of this interview is this:

Does it matter if he was executed? Do you think he deserved a trial?

I am a Catholic, and the position of the Catholic Church and the Pope is that we are 100 percent against the death penalty unless it is in self-defense. Look at the Nuremberg Trials. We didn’t just pop a bullet in the heads of the worst scum in history. We thought it was important to put them on trial and expose their evil. In a democracy we believe in a system of justice and we believe in a judicial system that gives people a day in court…and then we hung them.

It doesn’t mean we can’t hang them afterward.

The Catholic Church is also 100 percent against abortion. Has Moore become pro-life? Church doctrine is that homosexuality is a sinful act. Is Moore now against same-sex marriage? It seems to me that he is calling himself a Catholic when it is convenient for him.

Ahmadinejad Allies Charged with Sorcery

From the Guardian. This is interesting and more than a little frightening.

Close allies of Iran‘s president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, have been accused of using supernatural powers to further his policies amid an increasingly bitter power struggle between him and the country’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Several people said to be close to the president and his chief of staff, Esfandiar Rahim Mashaei, have been arrested in recent days and charged with being “magicians” and invoking djinns (spirits).

Ayandeh, an Iranian news website, described one of the arrested men, Abbas Ghaffari, as “a man with special skills in metaphysics and connections with the unknown worlds”.

We are still in the 21st century, right? Well, maybe some of us are still in the 16th. These people may have nuclear weapons very soon. After Obama gets done congratulating himself on Osama bin Ladin’s demise, maybe he ought to do something about that.

Last WWI Combat Veteran Dies at 110

Claude Choules, the last surviving World War I veteran died. I wouldn’t have thought that there were any World War I veterans left alive. It hasn’t been a century yet, but it seems like ancient history, almost another age.

I wonder how many World War II vets are still alive. They must be starting to get rare too.

Osama on Trial

In a way, I’m sorry they didn’t capture Osama bin Ladin alive to hold for trial. It might have been edifying to see the loony left spring to his defense. I’m sure Ramsey Clark would have handled the defense. He hasn’t met an anti-American tyrant or terrorist he can’t support yet. I imagine that his opening arguments would include something like “The Real Terrorism is US foreign policy”.

Cinco de Mayo

On this date in 1862, the Mexicans defeated an invading French army at the Battle of Puebla. This might not sound like much, these are the French we’re talking about, but in fact, the French had the best army in the world at that time. The Mexican forces were outnumbered two to one and out gunned, yet they managed to rout the French. So, the Mexicans have been celebrating the fifth of May, or Cinco de Mayo, ever since.

This holiday has spread here in the United States in recent years. At first, I objected to celebrating a “foreign” holiday, but then I reconsidered. We celebrate St. Patrick’s day for the Irish, Mardi Gras for the French and others, Columbus Day for the Italians, etc, so why not Cinco de Mayo for the Mexican-Americans. Besides, any holiday that celebrates the French getting their butts kicked is worth keeping.
