They’re Back!

April 30, 2012

The Occupiers are planning on coming back this spring after spending the winter in a hole, or under a rock, or something. I read this article in Bloomberg via Drudge.

Occupy Wall Street demonstrators, whose anti-greed message spread worldwide during an eight-week encampment in Lower Manhattan last year, plan marches across the globe tomorrow calling attention to what they say are abuses of power and wealth.

Organizers say they hope the coordinated events will mark a spring resurgence of the movement after a quiet winter. Calls for a general strike with no work, no school, no banking and no shopping have sprung up on websites in Toronto, Barcelona, London, Kuala Lumpur and Sydney, among hundreds of cities in North America, Europe and Asia.

In New York, Occupy Wall Street will join scores of labor organizations observing May 1, traditionally recognized as International Workers’ Day. They plan marches from Union Square to Lower Manhattan and a “pop-up occupation” of Bryant Park on Sixth Avenue, across the street from Bank of America’s Corp.’s 55-story tower.

“We call upon people to refrain from shopping, walk out of class, take the day off of work and other creative forms of resistance disrupting the status quo,” organizers said in an April 26 e-mail.

Occupy groups across the U.S. have protested economic disparity, decrying high foreclosure and unemployment rates that hurt average Americans while bankers and financial executives received bonuses and taxpayer-funded bailouts. In the past six months, similar groups, using social media and other tools, have sprung up in Europe, Asia and Latin America

I really love that “anti-greed” description of their message. I might have described their message as anti property-rights (for other people), anti-intelligence or anti-sanitation. I am sure they will win a lot of support from New Yorkers and others after a whole day spent disrupting traffic and harassing people.

Meanwhile, Zombie reported on the efforts of some misguided fools to occupy a farm.

Are you ready for the most ridiculous and pointless Occupation ever?

Last week, on Earth Day, the Occupy movement illegally took over an entire farm and transformed it into…a farm!

So proud are they of this revolutionary act that they showed off the farm to the media yesterday, so naturally I had to check it out.

There are a lot more pictures. The farm is question is a research farm in which agricultural scientists study ways to increase crop yields while reducing the impact on the environment. By “occupying” this farm, these people may ruin years of research.

The problem that these people are going to run into is that farming is not a lot of fun and games. You have to be willing to work long and hard day after day. If these people were interested in actually working and not just playing at being revolutionaries, they would actually have jobs and be productive members of our society. As it is, I think it would be an interesting experiment to lock them into that farm and make them live off whatever crops they manage to grow.

Anwar al-Aulaqi Killed

September 30, 2011

Here is a bit of good news from the Washington Post and Drudge.

Anwar al-Aulaqi, a radical U.S.-born Muslim cleric and one of the most influential al-Qaeda leaders wanted by the United States, was killed Friday in a CIA drone strike in northern Yemen, U.S. and Yemeni authorities said, eliminating a prominent terrorist recruiter who inspired attacks on U.S. soil.

The strike also killed a second U.S. citizen — Samir Khan, the co-editor of an al-Qaeda magazine — and two other unidentified al-Qaeda operatives, the Yemeni government said. But tribal leaders in the area said at least seven people were killed. They identified one of the others as al-Qaeda militant named Salem bin Arfaaj.

The Washington Post’s Africa bureau chief, Sudarsan Raghavan, reports from Yemen about what Anwar al-Aulaqi’s death means for the Yemens and for the long-term U.S.-Yemen relationship. (Audio)

One of the world's most wanted terrorists has been killed, according to the Yemeni government. U.S. born al-Qaeda cleric Anwar al-Aulaqi was killed. Tribal leaders say an air strike targeted an al-Qaeda convoy. (Sept. 30)

In Washington, senior Obama administration officials confirmed that Aulaqi, 40, a dual national of the United States and Yemen, and Khan were killed in a drone strike on their convoy.

The strike was carried out by a CIA drone operating from a new agency base on the Arabian Peninsula, U.S. officials said. It marks the first time that the CIA has launched a drone strike in Yemen since 2002, and the first indication that the new base is operational. The Post is withholding details on the specific location of the base at the request of the Obama administration.

This was the man who threatened to kill the cartoonist Molly Norris for daring to suggest Everybody Draw Mohammad Day.

Ron Paul has called this an assassination. I am not sure what his point is.  I am also not sure why this lunatic is considered a credible candidate for President.

That’s twice in one day I have called Ron Paul crazy. I’ll be hearing from the Paulistas now.

Osama on Trial

May 5, 2011

In a way, I’m sorry they didn’t capture Osama bin Ladin alive to hold for trial. It might have been edifying to see the loony left spring to his defense. I’m sure Ramsey Clark would have handled the defense. He hasn’t met an anti-American tyrant or terrorist he can’t support yet. I imagine that his opening arguments would include something like “The Real Terrorism is US foreign policy”.

Suicidal Idiots

May 3, 2011

Vladimir Lenin is said to have referred to the well-meaning Western Liberals who uncritically supported the Soviet Union as “useful idiots”. Somehow these people managed not to see the tyranny and misery of Communism. If Western liberals were often useful idiots then these Israeli liberals are suicidal idiots. This article, which I learned about through Pajamas Media, tells of left-wing activists who met in front of the building where David Ben-Gurion declared Israeli independence in 1948, in order to welcome the independence of a Palestinian state.

Actress Hannah Maron read a statement which included:

We have gathered here today, on April 21, 2011, to welcome the expected declaration of independence of the Palestinian state, Israel’s neighbor, with our borders of independence – which came into being at the end of the War of Independence in 1949 – the borders known as the ’67 borders,” a document drawn up by the left-wing activists says.

“The independence of both states strengthens each other. It is a moral and existential need and the basis for the possibility of good neighborly relations.”

The document adds, “We call on the citizens of Israel, the Knesset, the government, citizens of the world and their governments to recognize two states, in which the right to self-definition must be expressed by

both peoples as well as the general principles of democracy and equality.”

How can these people not be aware that both the PLO and Hamas wish to destroy Israel? Are they really so ignorant, or they indeed suicidal?

Back during the Holocaust, were there Jews who insisted that their fellow Jews cooperate with the Nazi in their own extermination in order to have peace?

The Birth Certificate

April 28, 2011

I note that Barak Obama has finally produced his birth certificate. he could have done that two years ago and saved himself a lot of trouble. I imagine he felt that all the birthers running around helped to discredit his opponents as loons. I suppose it is too much to expect the birthers to shut up now.

Happy Easter from the Communists

April 22, 2011

Evidently, the Communist Party USA has put out an Easter Message. I had no idea they were still in business. I can’t imagine why Glenn Beck even bothered.

I couldn’t find out how many members they have. They are now against the violent overthrow of the government, opting instead for peaceful change. They are not against religion and even have their own Religious Commission, for the useful idiots among the clergy.

Looking through their website is rather like looking at the ghosts of bad ideas that have long ago lived pass their time.

Earth Day

April 22, 2011

Today is also Earth Day. I don’t normally celebrate Earth Day. This is why:

Thanks to Human Events for making these  available.

More Civility from the Tolerant, Progressive Left

April 19, 2011

I don’t have anything to add to this.

Leestrananhan wonders why Liberals applaud this kind of behavior.
